2020-2021: Travel Grinds to a Halt

Abbreviated COVID-19, the coronavirus disease was first detected in China in 2019. As it spread across other countries it became a pandemic. By early 2020, the first cases were detected in the US. In only a few months time, the pandemic brought the world to a full stop. Our kids moved back home and together we hunkered down and waited as scientists and medical experts developed a vaccine. It was a strange time. For most of the year, we didn’t know what (or whom) to fear. We learned new ways of carrying out day-to-day life from the shelter of our home — working at makeshift desks, attending college classes, ordering groceries to be delivered, and even giving one another haircuts to name a few. We spent one year basically confined to our house which made the frigid Minnesota winter and loss of our beloved dog Sparky that much harder. Determined to keep the faith, we counted our blessings, drove hours to get our vaccines, and started to look ahead to our next adventures.
