2000-2020: The First Twenty Years

At the start of the new millennium, the world was expecting chaos, planes falling out of the sky and such. The reason was dubbed the “Y2K bug.” People feared the world’s computers would fail to recognize dates beginning with 20XX since they had only ever known 19XX dates, leading to widespread crashes and mayhem.

Thankfully, on January 1, 2000, all was well. Planes were flying high, and later that year I flew on a plane to the UK where Manohar was working. After a couple of visits, he asked me to meet him in Italy (picture above) for some sightseeing before continuing on together to India so he could introduce me to his family. That was the first of many trips to India because in 2001 we were married. That is when our adventure really began!

Travel near and far

During the first two decades of our marriage, in addition to Manohar and I raising a family, working full time, completing grad school, training for and competing in races (5K, 10K, 10-mile, half marathons, full marathons, and sprint-distance triathlons), planning a next trip was always on the table.

In addition to traversing the US, in those early years we embarked on adventures to – India, England, France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Norway, Iceland, Croatia, Slovenia, Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, the Netherlands, and the Bahamas.
